Sport: Australian Cross Country Championships in Tasmania

MERLIN TZAROS WINS NATIONAL SILVER MEDAL

Congratulations to our champion Year 10 Merlin Tzaros who picked up a Silver Medal at the Australian Cross Country Championships in Tasmania on Saturday.

The 15 year old won the medal as part of the Under 17 Victorian team in horrendous conditions over 6km in Launceston.

The youngest in the field of 100+ runners, he finished 13th individually, which means he this year has gone Top 13 in Australia in both Cross Country (13th) and Triathlon (10th).

It will be another big day for the Team Vic Triathlon State Team member next Thursday at the Upper Hume Track & Field meet in Albury, where last year he broke the all time U15 1500m record, the 3rd Upper Hume all-time record in his collection.

Well done Merlin. Thanks for inspiring so many of us with the way you compete, train, and conduct yourself. We’re all proud of you and can’t wait to cheer you on next week
