Relationships

Coming off the back of National Week of Action where the theme was 'Everyone Belongs' it got me thinking about relationships. To feel you belong you need to have relationships. Skills to have happy, successful and respectful relationships are explicitly taught at St Anne's.

Some of the skills taught to support our children to build relationships across their lives are:

  • what being a good friend looks like
  • managing when there is conflict
  • respecting that we are all different
  • being fair
  • standing up for ourselves and others
  • expressing how we feel
  • understanding how others feel

Schools are places where we practice the skills we are taught and relationship skills are no different to academic skills we need to learn them and practice them.

While the skills above are explicity taught and practiced each day, our special days at school and multiage activities are such great opportunities to build and grow relationships in our school and deepen our students' feeling of belonging. We've had some fun so far this term, have a look at these smiling faces.....

Have a wonderful week everyone
