PERFORMING ARTS

Welcome back to the final term of the year. We wish all our Unit 4 students in both Music and Theatre Studies the best with both their performance and written exams in the next few weeks.

Congratulations to the flute students who undertook their AMEB exams at the end of term 3, we are incredibly proud of the work that you did and the fact that you undertook such a challenge. We wish all students about to undertake their AMEB exams on a number of other instruments the best of luck.

We have a number of performances coming up over the next few months and look forward to seeing you there. The dates are at the end of this report.

Congratulations to the Senior Singers who performed at the final General Assembly for 2024 on Monday 14 October. It was fantastic to see and hear their work over the year. Thank you to Blanka West who has worked with these students all year.

Congratulations to all the percussion students who took part in the Percussion Night performance on Monday 14 October in the McKinnon Road Music Auditorium. VCE PERFORMANCES

Over the holidays our VCE Unit 4 Music Performance students performed their entire music performance program in preparation for their final assessment. Students were well organised and performed to an outstanding level, demonstrating their ability to outline the VCAA assessment criteria.

Congratulations to all students involved, and all the best to all students on their final performance.

THEATRE STUDIES

Congratulations to the wonderful Year 12 Theatre Studies class on their Monologue Showcase Night held Monday 7 October. Each student over the past two months has worked individually to creatively interpret a scene and justify their choices through an oral presentation.

Rather than perform in an ensemble piece together, which has been done since Year 9, each student supported each other, and 1-by-1 presented their finished pieces. It was a wonderful night of celebration for all their hard work and provided valuable insight. Students will perform these solos once more on Monday 14 October, in which they will be in front of a panel of examiners.

We wish them all the best for their final performances at McKinnon and hope they are as proud of themselves as I am for their final products!
