LANGUAGES

VCE FRENCH AND GERMAN

Our French and German VCE students will be doing their speaking exams over the next two weeks. During the holidays, they did practice exams to prepare them for the pressure of the real thing and to give them constructive feedback. Thanks to the teachers and language assistants who helped in the running of these exams.

We wish all our students well with the speaking and also with their preparations for the upcoming written exams.

LANGUAGES SOCIETY

Our East campus language leaders are organising a visit by Pop-Up Crepes on Friday 1 November to sell crepes to our lucky Years 8 and 9 students.

Pre-orders will be available through Compass and crepes will also be sold on the day.

TALKS ON THE GREEN

Thanks very much to Monsieur Chamontin and the Year 12 French class for their very enlightening panel discussion about New Caledonia during lunchtime on Friday 11 October. This was part of their preparation for their oral exam as it allowed them to respond to unexpected questions while under pressure - albeit in English.

¿QUÉ PASA EN ESPAÑOL?

It’s a great time to be a Spanish student with exciting events coming up for all year levels!

YEAR 9

Students are visiting Hecho en Mexico this week for an authentic Mexican dining experience which will enhance their cultural understanding and provide an opportunity to practise speaking in Spanish in a functional context.

YEAR 8

In a few weeks, SENES flamenco will be visiting McKinnon!

Students will have the opportunity to witness a live performance, engage in a cultural workshop and maybe even practise some flamenco dance steps!

¡Olé!

YEAR 7

There is also a Year 7 incursion in the works to celebrate el Día de los Muertos.

The Day of the Dead, which is celebrated in Mexico, is like a family reunion—except dead ancestors are the guests of honour.

Stay tuned for forthcoming details on Compass!
