Indonesian Debate

By Ita Rose

Last week, three Year 11 students (Makayla D, Stevie W, and William R) and two Year 10 students (Chloe B and Lucy M) participated in an Indonesian language event called the Model United Nations Conference at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership in Melbourne. This event was organized by the UNAA (United Nations Association of Australia) and VILTA (Victorian Indonesian Teacher Association). This year’s topic was Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development. About 15 schools sent their teams to debate. Although this event was mainly attended by Year 12 students, our students engaged very well in the discussion, showing confidence in speaking Indonesian. This debate was conducted entirely in the Indonesian language.

Moreover, our students were fortunate to watch the traditional Javanese shadow puppet show, the Wayang Kulit, the night before the debate. They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Javanese culture and also met some Indonesians to practice their conversational skills that evening.

Downhill Ski Day 2

Beautifully captured by Marie - the wonder and joy of falling snow.

No one expected it to snow nearly all day - but snow it did! Students enjoyed fresh tracks throughout the day, and even though peoples gloves were soggy - spirits were high. For some students, this was their first time seeing snow falling.

Is this a warning about the terrain or this group of hard core skiers?

Cross Country Skiing

It was nice weather and fair trail conditions for the handful of students who headed up the hill for their fun skills session.
