Learning
On Monday, the Year 3/4 students participated in the African Drumming and Dance Incursion. The students had a wonderful time and learnt so much. Thank you to Mr Camilleri for organising the incursion. Below are some photos for you to enjoy.
All year levels have been exploring the delightful world of raw clay and have constructed a unique aspect to contribute to our whole school gnome village. The Foundation students made acorns and gnome treasure (doubloons), the 1/2's made mushrooms, the 3/4's made the actual gnomes and the 5/6's made gnome houses.
As part of our installation in the out of bounds area near the soccer pitch we are going to observe the effects of the natural environment on our clay constructions over time. Rain? Sun? Insects? Rogue soccer balls? What will happen to our creations?
Additionally, as artists we are sending a message with our installation. We have learnt, enjoyed creating and constructed amazing artworks out of our clay and yet we have not harmed our environment. Eventually our clay will return to the earth from which it came. Beautiful, purposeful, creative and caring... That is the art that DPW students make.
Please feel free to visit our gnome village with your children at pick up time.
