From the Principal's Desk

Welcome to Week 5!

It's great to be back, and what better way to return to school than go on an overnight excursion with Stage 2.  I was only out there for the evening activities, and the sleep over.  I was a bit worried about this, I am old and grumpy now, but the students were fantastic. For a lot of students this was the first time that they have been away from their family for a night, so we were expecting a lot of tears.

No doubt, Miss Landow and Miss Randall will share with the school more details about the camp in coming weeks.

Martin's Gully shine at the 'Let there be light' at Armidale’s new free festival on 23 August

K-6 students and Miss Williams have worked hard to enter our sculpture the 'Martin's Gully Gumnut Light Sculpture' for upcoming Armidale Light Festival in Central Park.

Crafted almost entirely from recycled materials collected from their homes, the sculpture features egg cartons, toilet rolls, CDs, old discarded pipes, and Gum leaves from their playground.  Inspired by Martin's Gully's beloved school mascot, Gully Gumnut.

Illuminating light shows, fabulous fire twirlers, giant lantern puppets and community performances and installations will all be part of the entertainment lineup at the region’s newest event, The Armidale Light Festival, to be held at Central Park and Tingcombe Lane on 23 August 2024.

Central Park and Tingcombe Lane will come alive from 4.30pm, showcasing local, community and professional artistry through the power of light, including an enchanted ‘fibre field’ garden, coordinated with sounds and light, that will be a magical experience for young and old.

Book Week 2024!

This Friday we join the Nation to celebrate reading with our annual book parade! Reading truly is magic and opens so many doors.

At the heart of Book Week "Reading is Magic" celebrations is a positive and affirming message for all readers, encouraging them to embrace the magic of reading and explore the endless possibilities that lie within the pages of a book. Reading is not just a pastime, but a journey of discovery that opens doors to new ideas, perspectives, and adventures.

So join in the fun kids, and come on a magical journey through the pages.

Come dressed up in the fancy dress for the book parade this Friday 23rd August at 9:10am in the Quadrangle or hall if it is wet.

Parents are welcome to attend.

PAX word for the Fortnight:

PAX leaders are honest.  At MGPS we are honest, we tell the truth and we can be trusted.

We show trust by:

> Doing what we say we are going to do.

> Following the rules of a game or sport.

                                                                  > Being there for our friends.

PAX leaders show trustworthiness by telling the truth and  being responsible and reliable.

What are some opportunities you have every day to tell the truth and to be honest?
