SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR

This year at POPS, we began implementing School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). This collaborative effort involves all staff and students, emphasising consistency across the school.

The Expected Behaviour Matrix, familiar to many parents and carers, is used to reward positive behaviours and guide discussions on inappropriate behavior.

Each week, the school focuses on one expectation from the SWPBS matrix, reinforcing positive behaviours and their importance.

We've identified sportspersonship as an area needing attention. Our students need guidance on fair play, handling game situations, and understanding that winning isn't everything. This will be our focus in the coming weeks.

TEACHER PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY

As mentioned in previous editions, the School Council has ratified Friday, September 6, as a Teacher Professional Practice Day. This means it will be a student-free day. Teacher Professional Practice Days allow teachers to focus on enhancing their practice by providing them with release from their scheduled duties, including teaching.

Part of this day will be dedicated to professional learning focused on understanding neurodiversity and implementing strategies in the school context. We are fortunate to have Emma-Rose Parsons, a respected psychologist, leading a workshop for our staff.

FATHER'S/SPECIAL PERSON BREAKFAST

We’re excited for tomorrow’s Father’s/Special Person’s Day breakfast! It will be wonderful to see our students sharing this special time with their guests.

The breakfast will start at 7:30am, and following that, we invite our special guests to visit the classrooms from 8:40am to see some of the great work the students have been doing.

We look forward to seeing you there!
