Mathematics: Can you find real world examples of symmetry in your garden this week? What plants, flowers or leaves have lines of symmetry?
Reading: Aim to read 15 minutes at home per night.
Inquiry: What materials can you find in your home? Think: what are your clothes made of, what natural resources (rocks, plants, etc) is there?

Writer’s Workshop: We will continue our next writing study focusing on expanding our vocabulary. We will explore the Parts of Speech throughout this unit: Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives and more...
Reader’s Workshop: we will spend the term exploring the elements of reading as part of our unit of inquiry – How We Express Ourselves.
Mathematics: We will finish exploring symmetry and angles this week.
Unit of Inquiry: We will begin our new unit of inquiry this week. Sharing the Planet: properties.
Announcements:
Mr T Absent – on Friday 13th September, I will be coaching the Y3/4 boys SACSA AFL team and will not be in the classroom that day. Tania Tenten will be in the class that day.
Year 2 Camp - is at AFL Max, West Beach, from Tuesday 19th November until Wednesday 20th November. More details will be sent home before the end of term.
Please communicate with your child’s teacher if you have any questions about the Camp.
If you would like to put in an expression of interest to assist with supervising on the Year 2 Camp, please ensure you are a registered volunteer. Please email your classroom teacher, even if you have notified them previously of your interest.
This involves having the following up to date:
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Responding to Abuse, Harm and Neglect training (RRHAN-EC)
- Valuing Safe Communities (VSC) training

Premier’s Reading Challenge – Please keep reading books at home to help your children to fill in their PRC lists. We will also be completing books as a class to help as well.
Special Persons Afternoon – Please note that the date has changed for Special Person’s Afternoon (SPA). It will now be Friday the 20th of September (Week 9, Friday).
