Cooking up a storm in Cookery

Our Certificate II in Cookery students cooked up a delicious feast with burritos and cake for dessert, for staff and students today.

The diners enjoyed sharing a meal together in the MacKillop Café space, with some good company and good food.

Rehearsals with the Concert Band

The MacKillop Concert Band have been busy rehearsing for their upcoming Primary Schools Tour. Working on the pieces 'Baby Elephant Walk' by Henry Mancini, and 'Zoot Suit Riot', it's been wonderful to hear the melodious sounds drifting through the corridors.

Made up of students from Years 7-12, the band meets once a week to fine tune their instruments and practice their craft to perfection.

30 days to go!

Our Year 12 students celebrated 30 days left as students at MacKillop today, with a special luncheon and cake in the year of the College's 30th anniversary. Featuring a delicious meal prepared by our VET Certificate II in Cookery students, they enjoyed the choice of a tasty chicken parmigiana or some restaurant quality slider burgers.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Year 12 students as they near the end of their education at MacKillop. Reflecting over cake on the wonderful memories created throughout their learning journey. We wish them well for the next 30 days and beyond.

Thank you to all the students and staff who helped create this historic occasion.

Anime Club

Each Monday during lunchtime, Quinn Sensei and a group of students from across all grades, get comfortable in to watch some anime!

Some weeks this includes watching episodes of new or classic anime shows and sometimes it means watching a movie over a few weeks. Students are invited to bring their own manga (Japanese comics) or read from the collection available, drawing journals, lunch. This is a great space to meet those with similar interests or find a new favourite anime. All students are welcome; you just need to have an interest in exploring Japanese popular culture!

Orienteering in Outdoor Ed

Our Year 9 Outdoor Education class enjoyed an excursion to the Hobart Domain to sharpen their map reading skills during an orienteering lesson.

Working together as a team the groups had to make their way around the Domain to find each checkpoint.
