Prayer for Our Community
Loving God,
Thank you for our wonderful community.
Thank you for the people who care for us,
who help us, guide us, and make our days brighter.
Â
Help us to work together with kindness and respect.
May we listen to each other, share our gifts,
and welcome everyone with open hearts.
Bless our school, our families, and our friends,
so that together we build a community
filled with love, peace, and joy.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Dear St Michael’s School families,
Â
ST MICHAEL'S PILGRIMAGE TO ST PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL
On Friday 14th November, all students from St Michael’s School will come together to take part in a special pilgrimage to St Patrick’s Cathedral — our central Catholic place of worship in Melbourne.
Â
A pilgrimage is a journey to a sacred place that helps people grow in their faith and feel closer to God. It offers Christians a time for reflection, prayer, and spiritual renewal.
In this Year of Jubilee, we are invited as Catholics to take time to do just that — to pause, reflect, and deepen our connection with God. Throughout the year, our students have been learning about what the Year of Jubilee means and how it encourages us to be thankful for the many blessings in our lives.
Â
This pilgrimage to St Patrick’s Cathedral will be a journey of the heart and spirit, and we hope it will inspire our students to grow in faith, gratitude, and understanding as they continue their spiritual journey.

YEAR FIVE/SIX ONSITE EXPERIENCEÂ
Written by Sophia and Julien (5/6G)
"Last Friday, Year 5/6 had an incursion run by Mini Boss Incursions called “The Smoothie Bar”. It was about delicious smoothies and powerful marketing to help us with our mini-fete stall ideas. We started the day off by getting into groups and setting goals to make the best smoothies! Then we all started to make interesting smoothies for everyone in the group to enjoy, and reflect on. We all took turns on deciding what to put in the smoothie and what our logo would be. By the end of the day, all groups made a pitch (shark tank style) about their amazing smoothies. This brought together all that we had learnt throughout the day. All of the ideas were amazing and everyone had an open mind to try new things and have fun."

This has been an excellent opportunity for our senior students to develop their financial and marketing skills in readiness for their upcoming Minimarket later this term.
PREP 2026 TRANSITION PROGRAM
We invite all our incoming Prep students to attend the first Prep Transition session for this year. This will be held next Thursday 23rd October, from 9-10am. Parents may bring their child into the quadrangle to meet the eager Year Five students from 9am. They will meet Miss O'Donnell and Miss Drew at the main door near the Prep classroom. We then invite parents and caregivers to the hub for a cup of tea or coffee and to share some information with you. Look out for our new Preps when you arrive on Thursday next week!
Â
SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTSÂ
Congratulations to Annabelle Squire in Year Six, who ran a fantastic 1500m race at the Boroondara and Whitehorse Division Athletics event this week, finishing in second place! Annabelle will now represent St Michael's School in the Victorian Regional 1500m race on October 23. We wish her all the best for the next stage of competition!
Â
Well done also to Henley Higgins in Year 3. Over the recent holidays Henley competed at a regional gymnastics event, placing second in three events, first in one event and received a second placing overall. We congratulate Henley on this amazing achievement and wish her well in the state level championships this coming weekend.
Â
If your child has achieved something special which you would like to share in our newsletter, be it in the sporting, musical, artistic etc field, feel free to email me with the details and a photo to go with it.Â
Â
ENHANCEMENT SESSION
The Term Four Enhancement Session on Friday 14th November will be the final session for this year. Again we require parents and caregivers to bring gardening tools (shovels, rakes, brooms, hedge shearers, wheelbarrows) and gloves to assist with this session. Please sign up through Operoo as soon as you're able.
Â
PARENT / TEACHER / STUDENT INTERVIEW SURVEY
We are keen to seek your feedback on some elements of our Parent / Teacher / Student Interview process at St Michael's School. The attached survey here should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. We really appreciate your time in giving us this insight.

ST MICHAEL'S VEGGIE GARDEN
Thank you to our Year One/Two B students who harvested the spring onions in our veggie garden this week. They look amazing and sold very quickly at the end of the day! A little birdie told me they even tasted the snow peas! I hope they were lovely and sweet!!
Â
COMMUNITY BANK INNER EAST INVESTMENT PROGRAMÂ
Earlier this year St Michael's School submitted an application through the Bendigo Community Bank Inner East's Community Investment Program to go towards our Literacy resources for the students. Over the past 18 months, we have been building up resources of decodable texts and class novel sets for our Prep - Yr 6 Literacy program. Many parents have donated cakes for our fortnightly raffles, the funds of which have also gone towards this library. Â On Monday evening this week Elise Rimington and I attended a Funds Presentation event to receive the $2200 grant which will help build this vital resource in our school.Â
