5/6 Sport Divisional Finals

Last Friday, we had a number of our teams compete in the Divisional Finals of the 5/6 Sport Competition playing in a round robin tournament to qualify for the in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to our Girls Hot Shot Tennis RED team, Boys Kanga Cricket RED team, Boys Softball RED team, and Boys Basketball RED team who were successful, winning all of their games, progressing through to the next round of competition. They will now compete in the Western Metropolitan Regional Finals.

Unfortunately, our girls Basketball team just missed out on qualifying for the Regional finals in the dying seconds of their final game, going down by 3 points. Congratulations to this team on a fabulous season of 5/6 Sport.

A big thank you to our staff and coaches who were instrumental in leading and supporting our students throughout the season and the finals series. We wish our successful 5/6 Sport Teams the best of luck at the next round of competition.

Secondary Open Interschool Chess State Finals

We are proud to congratulate Simon I, Matthew M and Ethan E who recently competed at the Secondary Open Interschool Chess State Finals, a prestigious event that brings together some of the most talented young players from across Victoria. Reaching this level is a remarkable achievement and a testament to their strategic thinking, focus, and commitment to the game.

This event provided an excellent opportunity for our students to test their skills against high calibre competition. Each match offered valuable experience, and our players represented Overnewton with great composure and sportsmanship.

We commend these students for their hard work and perseverance throughout the season, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow, learn, and hopefully return to this stage in the years to come.
