Principal's Message

Carmela D'Amato

Dear Families,

It’s great to be back from my holiday and pilgrimage. Apologies for my absence this week as I’ve been a little unwell, which delayed my return. It was wonderful to see all the students and staff yesterday, and I can’t wait to visit classrooms to share some of the amazing experiences we had on our journey.

Each of the seven days was unique, offering new and enriching opportunities to pray for our communities and families. I am currently putting together a presentation that I’ll share with both families and students, giving some insight into how this pilgrimage has impacted me personally and deepened my prayer life.

Last term, I mentioned that our Prep students had written letters to Pope Leo, and I’m happy to report that after a little adventure, many directions, and a few misdirections, I was finally able to post them! Now, we wait in hope and excitement for a response.

A definite highlight for our group was being invited to attend Domus Australia, the church where Pope Leo celebrated the first Solemn Papal Vespers. During the ceremony, he blessed a restored image of Our Lady of Pompei and spoke to us about the importance of devotion to Mary and the significance of the Vespers service.

It was a great privilege to stand in the church with Pope Leo and to recite the Our Father together as one community, a truly unforgettable experience. Pope Leo also blessed all of us and any special mementos we had. In that moment, I held each of our families close in my heart, extending this blessing to you all.

I’d like to extend a very big thank you to Liz Sarpa for stepping in as Acting Principal during my absence, and to our leadership team and staff for continuing to be there for our students and families. I feel extremely fortunate to work in such a supportive and dedicated community.

Building & Facilities Update

We thank NOVCON for their craftsmanship and attention to detail in recreating our year 5 classroom space. This space looks amazing and I know that the students and teachers are enjoying it already. Our next step is to purchase new tables with inbuilt storage to create even more room for our students and provide greater flexibility during various learning tasks.

Thank you to all students and families for your patience while this project was underway. Feel free to pop your head in after school, once the bell has gone, to see the wonderful transformation!

School Fees:  2025 to be finalised. New structure for  2026

A reminder that all fees were due at the end of last term. If you have not finalised school fees yet, please do as soon as possible.  MACS have developed a new fee structure which will come into effect next year for our three Parish schools. Details of the new fee structure and explanation will be released in the coming weeks.

Sun Safety Reminder

As we begin Term 4, students are reminded to wear their hats to and from school each day, as well as during lunchtime and recess and any other time they are outside throughout the school day. Please encourage your children to apply sunscreen before coming to school.

It is also timely to remind families to clearly label jumpers and jackets as it begins to warm up. Many belongings which get removed during play time often don't make their way into bags - if they are labelled they are easier to return to their owners.

Family Engagement Opportunities

Our Parent Association has been working hard to organise some fantastic fun opportunities for our students. In the coming weeks we will have our Italian Pizza lunch on Monday 17th November and then our Fun Run later in November. All reminders have been announced on our NPortal. Thank you to the amazing efforts of our Parent Association who have raised close to $400000. We have already purchased charging cabinets for all of our classrooms and have started gathering quotes for some upgrades to our playground. Funds will also go towards purchasing new furniture for our Year 5 classrooms. Thank you to our parents and families for your continued efforts in participating in our fundraisers.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy fortnight,

Carmela
