From the ICOM Library

It is time to say goodbye to 2025 and look back on the achievements of our students this year.
It’s an exciting time for the year 6 cohort as they say goodbye to primary school. Stepping into the future with their transition days, using the library to focus on their studies, and adjust to the new timetable. An exciting 2026 awaits them!
Our ICOM Reading challenge was an even bigger success this year with over 80 students completing it. We are excited to see even more growth next year and with an exciting range of new books on their way, the students will have plenty to choose from. The challenge also proved to be a great way to encourage students to reflect on what they are reading and pass on their recommendations to friends and staff.
With close to 23,000 books borrowed this year, we are encouraged to keep growing our library, supporting each student in their education and encouraging them to read for pleasure and knowledge.
Happy reading!
Ms. Amie-Lia Callaghan, Primary Librarian
The library was a hive of activity throughout term 4, with students making full use of our study spaces, whiteboards, and quiet reading zones as they prepared for their exams. From early-morning revision sessions to after-school study groups, it was encouraging to see so many students taking initiative, collaborating with peers, and engaging deeply with their learning. Many students used the whiteboards to create mind maps, and break down complex topics, transforming the library into a dynamic thinking space that supported both independent and group study.
Behind the scenes, the library team has continued our annual stocktake, a vital process that helps us maintain accurate records ensuring the collection remains relevant and up to date. Alongside this ongoing work, we have been actively planning for 2026, with a strong focus on expanding and refreshing our collection. New texts, digital resources, and contemporary titles have been carefully selected to meet the diverse interests and curriculum needs of our secondary students. These updates aim to further enhance the library’s role as a central learning hub that supports academic growth, creativity, and student wellbeing.
It has been a wonderful term filled with energy, curiosity, and meaningful interactions. Watching students take ownership of their learning and use the library as a supportive space has been truly rewarding. As we farewell 2025, we extend our gratitude to all staff and students who contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the library. We look forward to the new events, programs, and opportunities that 2026 will bring.
Ms. Nadia Moosa, Secondary Librarian
