ICOM Hijab Day Celebration

This week (13th of November), our school community came together to celebrate the ICOM Hijab Day, a vibrant and meaningful event that highlighted the beauty, purpose, and significance of the Hijab in Islam. Students enjoyed a range of engaging activities, including Hijab Card Games, Storytime, lively Hijab Photo Booths, and various Hijab Stalls offering accessories and fun learning opportunities. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, curiosity, and learning as students explored the values behind this important symbol of modesty and faith.

The highlight of the event was the dedicated Hijab Workshop for our Year 4 students, who will begin wearing the hijab next year when they enter Year 5. The workshop provided them with practical guidance, encouragement, and confidence. Each attendee also received a special gift pack, which added to their enthusiasm and made the experience even more memorable.

This wonderful event was a collaborative effort between the Islamic Studies Faculty, the Student Services Team, and the Year 4 Faculty. Their planning, teamwork, and dedication ensured that the ICOM Hijab Day was not only educational but also joyful and inspiring for all involved.

Overall, the event was a great success, strengthening students’ understanding of Islamic values while fostering faith, confidence, and community spirit.

A key reminder of the significance of the hijab was shared through the Qur’anic verse:

“O Prophet! Ask your wives, daughters, and believing women to draw their cloaks over their bodies. In this way it is more likely that they will be recognized ˹as virtuous˺ and not be harassed. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” - Surah Al-Ahzab 33:59

Female students from across the Secondary School participated in engaging activities, discussions, and demonstrations that promoted confidence, identity, and the beauty of modesty.

A special highlight was the excitement among Year 7 girls, who each received a Hijab Gift Pack as a welcome gesture into their Secondary Islamic journey.

The event created a warm, inclusive, and celebratory atmosphere, showcasing unity and pride within our school community. We thank all staff and students for making the day meaningful and memorable.
