Wildcats Excursion

On Wednesday, the High Performance Pathways elective had the opportunity to attend a Perth Wildcats practice as they prepared for their first game of the NBL finals against the Tasmania JackJumpers. Highlights included watching projected #2 NBA draft pick Alex Sarr, four time NBL MVP Bryce Cotton and six time NBL champion Jesse Wagstaff train. Students were amazed at the skill demonstrated and the speed and power of the Wildcats players.

They also had an opportunity to listen in to the game plan the Wildcats will try and execute against the JackJumper on Friday. The High Performance Pathways elective is based on the Four-Coactive Model of Player Preparation (physical, mental, technical and tactical). This excursion allowed students to gain a greater understating of how professional athletes use this framework to prepare for competition.

Cross Country Age Championships

Tuesday, 26 March

After the popularity and success of our inaugural event last year, I am pleased to share with the community that preparations are well underway for the running of our 2024 Cross Country Age Championships.

The event will occur on Tuesday, March 2024 from 8.30am - 11.00am.

Within the TC Spirit of Excellence, the Championships aim to allow high level athletes (runners) who participate in a variety of PSA sports, the opportunity to compete in a College Carnival-style event. Following the Championships, a team will then be selected to represent the College at the annual School Sport WA Cross Country Championships on Thursday, 16 May.

The course will be a relatively flat 3km loop incorporating the Matagarup Bridge, following the riverside pathway from Mann Oval. Maps will be shared with students closer to the event.

Once again, medals will be awarded to year group place getters and the School Champion Trophy will be awarded to the fastest runner to complete the course.

The event is open to ALL students and is by nomination only. Nominations are due by 12.00pm on Monday, 18 March. All nominations will be considered by relevant teaching staff and selection for inclusion in the event will be finalised soon after.

All Year 7-12 students have been sent a Microsoft forms link via SEQTA in order to nominate for the Carnival.

If you have any queries regarding the event, please contact me at the College.

Volleyball Windup

Trinity College Vs Greenwood College

We're thrilled to share the highlights of the recent volleyball showdown between Trinity College and Greenwood College. The Sport Centre was buzzing with excitement Friday morning as both schools showcased their volleyball prowess in a spirited head-to-head. A huge round of applause is due to the students from years 8 to 12 who stepped onto the court. Their enthusiasm, skills, and teamwork were truly commendable, making the games a thrilling experience for both players and spectators alike.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to Greenwood College for their sportsmanship and participation. Special recognition goes to Peter Fitzgerald, the Volleyball Coordinator at Greenwood College, whose effort contributed to the success of this memorable event. We extend our gratitude to the Friends of Volleyball who generously provided a delicious breakfast for our students. Your support and commitment to enhancing the overall experience for the boys is invaluable.

The event was not only competitive but also a whole lot of fun for all. It's heartening to see the positive spirit and camaraderie amongst the students. We eagerly anticipate hosting the event again next year, to continue fostering a tradition of friendly competition.

Thank you again to all involved. Your dedication contributes significantly to the vibrant sports culture here at Trinity College.
