Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It certainly has been a very busy beginning to Term 2, lots of things happening, lots of things being planned for. We endeavour to keep everyone informed and the Flexischools app is the main way in which we as a school communicate with families. We strongly urge all parents to download Flexischools and choose both the class and Year level of their children (eg 3/4G & Year 4). There are no limits on who has the app. So Mum, Dad and even Grandma can have it, especially if they are going to be dropping off or collecting children, in case we need to inform everyone quickly, we post it on Flexischools.

On the last day of Term 1, we drew the winners of the Easter Raffle and the junior classes took it all away! Congratulations to the winners Daniel P (1/2G), Oliver D (Prep), Oliver K (1/2G) and we do wonder how much of the big chocolate block is left! We also revealed the Easter Guess A Jar winner - Patrick (1/2 H). There were 231 Easter eggs in the jar. Thanks to the PA for all their organisation and indeed all their work over Term 1 - Coffee Mornings, Pancake Tuesday, Icy Poles, Easter Raffles and so much more, we are so blessed to have you and all you do.

Other news that came in prior to the end of term was some of our senior students' sporting achievements.  Estelle S (Yr 6)  has been selected to be a part of the 2024 Football Victoria (FV) Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) Centres. It is run by Football Victoria in conjunction with clubs to identify and develop potentially talented Victorian players.

Athan, Daimon, Giacomo and Jack from Grade 6 as part of South Springvale Soccer club,  participated in the Macca City Cup and won the gold as the Plate champions. The boys displayed great teamwork and sportsmanship as always. The cup is currently at Athan's house!

Seasons for Growth Program

We would like to offer the opportunity for children to be a part of the Seasons for Growth program. Seasons for Growth is an education program that builds the resilience and wellbeing of children who have recently experienced loss due to death, family separation or migration. Seasons for Growth aims to support young people to understand their feelings, help them develop skills for coping, restore self-confidence and educate them about the grief process.

At COHR Seasons for Growth would be run by Kim Goddard. If you think this could benefit your child or you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Kim or Jo.

Mother's Day @ COHR

Yesterday three notes were sent home about Mother's Day @ COHR, certainly a highlight in our calendar.

  • An invitation to all our COHR Mums to our Mother's Day breakfast on Friday 10th May from 7:30am until 9am, in the Hall. This will be followed by our special Mother's Day Assembly.
  • Mother's Day raffle tickets - great prizes and more tickets are available from the Office if you need them.
  • A call out for Dads to come and help the Mother's Day Breakfast to happen - we need your help, so please, if you can, do help out.

COHR FETE

Save the date: Friday 15th November

Planning for the 2024 Fete is well underway, please refer to the page in this newsletter. Please don't worry if you have not been able attend the Fete Meetings so far, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Year 1/2 - 31st May

As always, the more volunteers we have the better the program runs. Please feel free to volunteer for more than one class session.

We have set up bookings through school interviews. Follow the link and use the code: zdepe

If you have any queries, please contact the school office.

Caritas Day

Thanks so much to our student Faith Leaders, Madeline and Izzy who led Caritas Day.  We raised $1870 which has been sent to Caritas Australia. If you are yet to return your Project Compassion box, it is not too late to do so, just hand it in to the office.

On a sadder note we offer our sympathies to the Horszowski family. Michaela's grandfather, Louise's father, unfortunately passed away last Tuesday after a long battle with cancer.  Please remember them in your prayers.

Finally, wonderful news was shared on Monday, Mrs Jill Palermo is expecting her second child. Jill plans to work through to the end of this term, with hopes of returning for a few weeks of Term 3.   Our warmest congratulations go to her, Cam and Benjamin.

Regards

Jo Cowan (Deputy Principal) &

Brian Martin (Lead Principal)
