Speaking Respectfully

Speaking respectfully is an important skill for kids to develop for several reasons:

Building Positive Relationships: Respectful communication forms the basis of healthy relationships.

Effective Communication: Respectful communication enhances the effectiveness of the message being conveyed. It promotes clearer understanding and reduces misunderstandings or conflicts.

Emotional Intelligence: Learning to speak respectfully helps kids develop emotional intelligence. They learn to recognize and regulate their emotions, as well as understand the emotions of others.

Conflict Resolution: Respectful communication is crucial for resolving conflicts peacefully. Kids who speak respectfully are better equipped to express their concerns, listen to others' perspectives, and find mutually agreeable solutions.

Overall, speaking respectfully is a fundamental skill that contributes to positive social interactions, emotional well-being, and the development of healthy relationships throughout life.

Wearing the school uniform

As the weather is beginning to cool, please ensure students are wearing a green school jumper and/or green tracksuit pants if needed.  Students wearing non-school uniform jumpers will be supplied with a school jumper for the day.

Respectful Relationships Education (RRE)

Our focus on Respectful Relationships continues to aim to prevent gender based and family violence in future generations by helping students develop positive relationships, resist harmful social pressures, resolve interpersonal conflict, maintain healthy boundaries and seek and provide help when needed.

Co-teaching of the RESPECT Program will begin again this week, through until week eight.

News from Chappy Sonia

Chappy continues to run a variety of wellbeing and engagement activities during our breaks. Chappy is also working with our Guidance Officer, Erin Bastion, enhancing the social skills of our students.

Chappy will also be facilitating Mother's Day craft with the students in the coming weeks.

Chappy week will be held from the 19th to the 26th of May. Free dress day will be on Friday the 24th of May. Students can dress up as something starting with C for Chappy, or S for Sonia.

Chill Out Zone

Year five and six students are welcome to come and chill out in the comfy hang out space! Improvements have been made to the courtyard area attached to our multimedia room. Join us to listen to tunes, enjoy some mindful colouring, play board games and chat with friends. The Chill Out Zone will be open at morning tea and lunch.

ANZAC SERVICE AND MARCH

Students should be commended for their participation in the school ANZAC commemoration service and the Town ANZAC March.   Staff, parents and community members expressed being moved by the speeches delivered by all guest and student presenters at our school service.  We were honoured to have Mr Brassington, the President of the Goondiwindi RSL Branch speak to the students. Mrs Gail Clark also spoke to the students about her brother's ultimate sacrifice.  Many listeners found the experience to be very emotional.

Our community values ANZAC Day, and so does our school, as shown by the high standard of behaviour shown by our students at both services. Thank you must go to parents and caregivers for encouraging respectful participation.
