Premier Ensembles Concert

Well done to the College’s Premier Ensembles who commenced the 2024 Performing Arts program in an evening of high-quality music on Thursday 29 February in the Draney Theatre. The pictures taken capture some special moments of what promises to be another successful year of engaging performances.

State Honours Ensemble Program

Congratulations to Rhys Adams, Wyatt Castleman, Pedro Chadud, Jack Donohue, Xavier Hunter, Sebastian Kaminski, Quinn Maloney and Ethan Wu who were selected to participate in the Queensland Conservatorium’s State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) in late 2023. These boys were presented with their certificates at last week’s assembly. Open Conservatorium's State Honours Ensemble Programs grew from modest beginnings in 2001 to hosting over 5,000 students each year through 16 individual programs in 10 centres with students participating from across Australia.

Join the Year 5 cohort of 2024 for their musical production of ‘Joust’. Imagine a world where all weapons were replaced by musical instruments! Welcome to the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table like you've never seen it or heard it before. On guard! This 35-minute medieval marvel, complete with jousting knights, delightful damsels, and court jesters, is an event not to be missed.

Following the ANZAC Day march, Chamber Choir will be performing a reflection as part of the commemorative service. All members of the Ashgrove Community are invited to this special event

 

ASHCAM Photographic Competition 2024 – Launch

Monday April 29 | Entries via WE Transfer

ASHCAM is Marists’ annual photography competition, which is open to the whole Marist Community to enter. The winner will be announced at assembly following the conclusion of Creative Arts Week. Winning photos will be displayed in the MCA Library afterwards. Further details will be communicated closer to the launch date.

 

International Jazz Day Celebration

In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people from all corners of the globe. Please join us on April 30 for a special performance from Big Band 1 to mark this important day for international jazz.

Autumn Concert

As we feel the chill slowly creep into the Ashgrove air, we celebrate the musical advent of Autumn through our intermediate ensembles. Aspects Art Show

Thursday May 2 | Goondiwindi

Members of the Visual Art and Music faculty will travel to the Goondiwindi show to present a series of creative workshops for the local community throughout the day.

 

MCA Musical - “Jersey Boys”

Thursday May 9 – Saturday May 11 | Draney Theatre

With much excitement, we welcome the return of musical productions at the College after a 20-year hiatus with this production held in conjunction with the girls from Mt St Michaels and the Stuartholme School. From the mean streets of Jersey to the American Bandstand, JERSEY BOYS: The School Edition follows the thrilling story of how four young men from the wrong side of the tracks became the biggest doo-wop sensation of all time: The Four Seasons.
