Principal's Ponderings

From our Principal - Mr Chad Smit

Jesus Is Lord Of All

Easter is the most significant moment in history for Christians. I often ponder the gravity of walking alongside Jesus during His earthly ministry. If we had been there, witnessing the miracles, hearing the parables first-hand, or observing the ultimate act of love on the cross, how would we have responded to the chants and shouts to crucify Him? Would we, too, have moments of doubt or would our faith be unwavering? These questions lead us back to the core of our mission as a Christian community: to place Christ at the center of all we do.

Our community thrives on encouragement and support, following the biblical exhortation found in Hebrews 10:24-25 to, 'Consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.' This scriptural charge is not just a call to action but a call to live in a manner that reflects the character of Christ — one that emphasises love without hypocrisy, as advocated in Romans 12:9-13.

As we live out these scriptures, we strive to be devoted to one another in love, honoring others above ourselves, and serving the Lord with zeal. We are called to rejoice in hope, persevere in tribulation, and remain faithful in prayer, sharing with the Lord's people who are in need and practicing hospitality.

As Easter draws near, I am reminded of the love demonstrated by Christ, a love that should be the cornerstone of our interactions. The cross and the resurrection are symbols of hope, a hope that should permeate our teaching, our fellowship and our service, we are forgiven, we are accepted.

Easter isn't merely a holiday; it is a celebration of the greatest act of love known to humanity. As we share this time with our children and teenagers, it is crucial to teach them the true meaning of Easter beyond the commercial trappings. It is a perfect opportunity to delve deeper into the story of Jesus' death and resurrection, ensuring that the message of the empty tomb is not lost but celebrated and understood.

The question I pose to our community, and to myself, is how are we living out the reality of Christ's sacrifice? How do we make Jesus' love and sacrifice relevant in our daily lives? How do we celebrate not only His death but also His glorious resurrection?

We are called to be light and salt in the world, reflecting the glory of the risen Christ in our actions and in our love for one another. This Easter, let us actively seek ways to share this love with those around us, whether through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or simply by being present for those in need.

As we take a short break this Easter long weekend, I encourage our families to find rest and joy in the Lord, and to use this time to reflect on the profound gift of love we've been given. Let us continue to worship and praise God, living as His examples and letting the message of Easter shine through our lives.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with each of you, now and forever more. Amen.

May this prayer be our guide as we enter the Easter season, reminding us of the love that was poured out for us and the peace that comes from Christ alone. Let us carry this message in our hearts and extend it to every member of our community, today and always.
