Orientation program

Pre-commencement orientation for students in Higher Education Studies

CHES students are enrolled in CHES subjects from all corners of Victoria, it is crucial that students have the opportunity to get to know one another and familiarise themselves with CHES expectations, opportunities, schedules, and hy-flex teaching and learning before commencing their studies with us. The orientation programs for students in our 4 VCE classes and in our wide range of Higher Education Studies provide an important opportunity to prepare for the year ahead.

We are delighted that several students from our 2023 VCE classes have enrolled into Higher Education Studies through CHES again this year.

At the end of 2023, our VCE students took part in a three-day orientation program here at CHES with some students staying at accommodation together with staff in the CBD.

On confirmation of acceptance into the university courses, students in the Higher Education Studies came together for our one-day orientation event in early February, prior to commencing their university courses.

This was an important opportunity for students to prepare for their first university subjects and to get to know other Year 12 students within and across their courses.

One of our CHES values is ‘Connection' and we were delighted with the way that students connected with one another in Term 1 through the orientation day activities and their ongoing live lessons together. Friendships have started to form within subjects and across schools.

Thank you to Dr Anna Podorova from Monash University for leading an engaging and insightful session on academic literacy during our Orientation Day to help our students manage the reading and writing demands of university study.

Thank you to the team at Skyline Foundation Australia for their wonderful presentation to our students on achieving VCE success.
