Grade 3
NAPLAN Week
Over the last fortnight, Grade 3 students have been sitting the Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Mathematics NAPLANs. All of their hard work preparing for the, as Mr. Abdallah describes it, “Academic Grand Final” has paid off, as NAPLAN week went off without a hitch.
On Friday, Grade 3 students were rewarded for their effort with a pizza and movie party during the middle sessions. Students, parents and carers should be very proud of the achievements of the Grade 3 cohort over the past two weeks.
Reading
Since the completion of NAPLAN week, students have begun unpacking Information Reports, including what they contain, how they are structured and why they are written.
Writing
To prepare students to write an informative text, students have been learning how to separate fact from opinion and how to use facts to support strong informative writing.
Mathematics
Since the completion of the NAPLAN, students have been practising important skills such as how to represent numbers in different ways, ordering numbers from smallest to largest and using a ruler to measure items around the classroom.
Harmony DayOn Thursday, we celebrated the many amazing cultures that make up the Grade 3’s! We participated in a whole school celebration, where we showed off cultural clothing that is very special to us. We completed Harmony Day activities that allowed us to work together to achieve success. Most importantly, after lunch, we celebrated our cultures together by sharing delicious food that is special to the countries of our families. There was so much to eat, and it all smelt so delicious!
House Comp
On Friday, we all took part in our House Comp. On that day, we all joined in together in games of memory tag. There was lots of running and chasing, and plenty of fun out in the amazing weather. We are looking forward to seeing who is the winner of the house cup later this week!
