We are learning to analyse the structure of poems.
VOCABULARY
Alliteration: Using the same sound or letter at the beginning of a word multiple times in a line.
Onomatopoeia: Using words that mimic the sound of the noun or verb they describe
Personification: Giving human like qualities to something that isn't human
Figurative language (imagery, including similes, metaphors and personification): Used in literature to build insight and deeper meanings for the audience.

Read a poem of your choice, or read the one below and ask your child to identify some language features that are included such as rhyme, repetition, rhetorical questions and/or figurative language.
