Leadership Report
Reflecting on the appropriate focus for this week’s editorial, I decided to begin by looking at our calendar of events; and what has been happening around Magill over the last three weeks. Once I did, the decision was quite simple. I would like to dedicate this week’s newsletter editorial to the wonderful staff your children are fortunate enough to be taught and guided by throughout their primary years. In the three short weeks since our last newsletter, the following has occurred at our school:
- Year 6 leader’s day
- Year 4 Woodhouse excursion
- Auskick
- Learning Conversations
- Photo day(s)
- Active Ed for year 1 students
- Road safety excursion for Receptions
- Year 4 Lacrosse clinic for year 4 students
- Whole school assembly celebrating Chinese culture
This is all in addition to the day-to-day planning, teaching, and learning that occurs across all classrooms and specialist subject areas in our school. Providing each of the above experiences for children means extra time and effort spent by staff planning, organising, completing appropriate paperwork, risk assessments, time spent on the phone, sending, and receiving emails, chasing up permission slips, late nights, early starts - this list goes on! All of this is done with your children at the very centre of their minds, knowing that children enjoy these experiences – and seeing the smiles and enjoyment at the end of a great day is all that matters.
Keeping the focus on our fabulous staff members, I would like to turn the spotlight on our Business Manager, Carol. Carol will sadly be leaving us at the end of the school holiday break, taking up a new opportunity with one of the universities. Carol has been at Magill School for over 5 Years. The role of Business Manager is vast and varied, and during this time she has managed many complex situations, not least of which was overseeing the Junior Primary redevelopment and building project. Along with her day-to-day role, Carol has been a regular supporter during our whole school events such as; the End of Year Concert, Sports Day and Foodbank collections. We will miss seeing Carol around our school and would like to wish her all the very best.
We also farewell one of our long standing, permanent SSO's, Kylie Roling. Her dedication, kindness and warmth have left a lasting impact on many students at Magill. Thank you Kylie, for your hard work and valuable contributes. You will be greatly missed.
Finally, at the end of each term, students, staff and parents eagerly await the release of our latest Inside Magill episode.
Wishing you and your family a safe and enjoyable school holiday break – we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 29th April.
