Library News

Our chess team comprising of Vincent B, Owen W, Jackson Q, and Samuel G represented the school in the second round of the New South Wales Junior Chess League. They won a close fought contest over Singleton High School. Now our team can look forward to playing in the third round of the competition.

The purchase of three new LEGO kits has ignited a flurry of building activity among the students. Lately, our students have built The Toy Shop 31105, Mack Recycling Truck 42167, and the Star Wars 75326 kitsBridget M enjoyed building The Toy Shop kit because, “it was challenging and fun to play with once the project was finished.” Bridget also enjoyed socialising with her friends while working on the project. These completed projects are now on display in the library. We will gladly accept any donations of Lego or the instructional booklets.

Another program on offer is the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC). Students will receive a certificate if they read twenty books, including up to ten books of their own choice. Please email Mr Boyce on andrew.boyce@mn.catholic.edu.au if you wish to register.  The library has a range of PRC titles available for loan.

The NRL Footy Tipping competition has proven to be quite popular with both staff and students. At present there are three tipsters in first place, two students and one teacher. Tips for the next three rounds need to be submitted to library staff by 3.15pm this Thursday afternoon.

Our Book Group usually meets every second Monday (Week B) at lunch time. Each participant can share details of the books they are reading. Furthermore, each meeting we choose an author or subject to talk about. All are welcome to join.

Finally, staff and students can borrow books to read over the holiday period. The library is constantly receiving new titles for loan. We also have access to a collection of eBooks and audiobooks on the SORA app. Please look at the details below or speak to library staff about SORA.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!
