Springvale Rise Primary School Community Hub
We’ve definitely had a very busy fortnight in Community Hub! We were invited to the Foodbank Market day held at Springvale Community Hub (Springvale Library). Select families were able to attend the market and receive up to ten kilos of fresh fruits and vegetables. It was fantastic to see many of our families attend and be part of this wonderful initiative.
Secondly, for the first time ever in collaboration with South East Community Links (SECL) and Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE) we facilitated a session for Mothers and Daughters titled ‘Healthy Bodies – Healthy Relationships’. Select students were chosen from Middle and Senior learning centres and were invited together with their mother to learn about the body and all the changes that happen as they grow older. It was a wonderful opportunity for our school to provide this learning and to empower our mothers to have these conversations with their children and therefore guiding the next generation about women’s health.
We also celebrated International Women’s Day on the Heights Campus. Women came together to discuss this years theme of ‘celebrating inclusion’ and what being a woman meant to them. We also had some fun baking and decorating cookies with written messages empowering women, and reminding us all that women supporting women is so important.
As we are nearing the end of the term, we look forward to engaging with the community in more fun activities planned such as an Excursion in English class, a library visit on Heights Campus and also some cooking during Women’s Wellbeing group. We hope to see you there, and as a reminder please see the following hub programs below.
