Dear Year 1 and 2 Families,

It's hard to believe that we are approaching the end of Term 1 already. Please see below for some important information and details regarding a range of upcoming events in our level.

End of Term 1

Just a reminder to parents that Term 1 ends on Thursday 28th March at 2:30 pm. If you are unable to pick up your child at that time, please arrange for someone to pick up your child or utilise our OSHC services.

Parent Teacher Interviews:

Parent Teacher Interviews are fast approaching. Please make a note of this in your calendar. They will be held on:

Year 2 Science incursion:

In our Inquiry and Science Units this term, the Year 2 students have been learning about Sustainability topics, in particular, Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. To complete and reinforce their understandings in these units, staff have organised a freeincursion through the Whitehorse Council on Wednesday 20th March in sessions 3, 4 and 5 (11:10am - 1:25pm). The students will be focusing on what is sustainability, its importance, how students can contribute as a community and as individuals to a sustainable society, and how can they reduce-reuse-recycle-rethink? The students will be shown a presentation and then divided into smaller groups to participate in hands-on learning activities. If you have any questions regarding this, please email your child's classroom teacher.

Colour Run:

Our Colour Run is just around the corner! Next Friday is the day, and we are so excited for this spectacular community event! The event will commence just after 2pm on Friday 22nd March, with all students having the chance to take part with their class. Students will run in groups and parents are welcome to come and watch. Remember, if you have not yet registered to be a fundraiser for this event, please do so prior to the day.

Easter Eggs:

Thursday 28th March (last day of Term 1)

To celebrate the end of Term 1, teachers would like to facilitate an Easter activity with the Year 1 and 2 students. This will involve all students making an Easter basket and each child receiving a small amount of solid Darrell Lea Easter eggs on the Thursday morning. Please let your child’s teacher know by the end of Monday 25th March if you do not wish for your child to participate in this activity / receive the Easter Eggs.

Swimming:

We are once again looking forward to our swimming program next term. The Year 1 and 2 students will be participating in a five-day program at AquaLink swimming pool in Nunawading. During the week, the children will learn important safety and survival skills in group lessons that are tailored to their swimming ability. Whilst further information is still to come, please prepare your child by allowing them to practise dressing and undressing by themselves during the school holidays, so that they can do this independently when at the swimming pool change rooms.
