Partnerships and Pathways
This week, students from Year 10, Year 12 and the SRC participated in two dynamic and practical Careers and Pathways events, Future Ready and Lead 4 Impact, hosted by Crazy Ideas College.
Future Ready focused on Year 10 students, encouraging them to explore the future world of work and align their strengths and passions with potential career paths. Through engaging and immersive activities, students gained insight into the evolving job landscape and how to prepare for success in a fast-changing environment, equipped with critical skills to navigate their lives beyond school.
For Year 12 and the SRC, Lead 4 Impact delivered a leadership-focused program designed to foster their ability to lead change and inspire them to make meaningful contributions to their school and wider communities. The session emphasized acting in ways consistent with their values and strengths, inspiring these role models to lead with integrity and purpose.
As an added bonus, students also gained access to IBM's global online learning and credentialing platform - IBM SkillsBuild - that brings in-demand tech and professional skills to students.
Both events were met with enthusiasm and engagement from students, highlighting the importance of preparing young people for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Thank you to IBM and Crazy Ideas College for delivering these innovative programs and for supporting students in their journey to becoming future-ready.
Well done to the 40 students from Years 9-12 who have enrolled in the brand-new ‘Ready Set Work’ series - the ultimate toolkit for students stepping into their first (or next) job! The program includes 10 workshops, running every fortnight and has so far featured the creation of personal statements plus the identification of personal skills and strengths. Our participants will complete the course in Term 1 (2025) with an e-workbook as evidence of their learning, to earn a Ready to Work credential for job applications.
Students from Years 7-12 can find out about the latest pathways opportunities and keep up to date with all our careers news and resources at our school’s Careers at Canvas site, as well as through the Ponder Pathways Hub and Beyond.
For any pathways enquiries, or to book a coaching conversation, students can pop into the library or email us: amacnamara1@parra.catholic.edu.au and koliver4@parra.catholic.edu.au
