DIOCESAN CATECHISTS MASS
On Friday, 22 November, our Year 10 Catechists attended the annual Mass and Awards Ceremony hosted by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) for the Diocese of Parramatta at St Patrick’s Cathedral. This event celebrated all volunteers within parishes and schools who served as Catechists throughout 2024.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 10 and 11 Catechists, who delivered scripture lessons to Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2 students at Jamisontown Public School each week this year.
During the Mass, Bishop Vincent presented the college with a certificate recognizing 25 years of outstanding commitment to the ministry of spreading the Good News to young people in public schools. As the founding school for this program in the Diocese of Parramatta, we have been privileged to witness the profound impact of the Catechist program—not only on the primary school students we serve but also on our student Catechists. This ministry has been a meaningful opportunity for them to deepen their faith while sharing it with others.
We are grateful for the ongoing success of this program and look forward to continuing this special ministry in the years ahead.
Diocesan Local World Youth Day and Leaders Commissioning Mass
On Sunday, 24 November, our College Captain, Ava Barbara, and Vice Captain, Scarlett Storr, accompanied by their families, attended the Diocesan Local World Youth Day and Leaders Commissioning Mass, organised by Catholic Youth Parramatta (CYP).
This special Mass coincided with the Feast of Christ the King, a solemnity that celebrates Christ’s sovereignty over all creation and reminds us of our call to serve and build His kingdom on earth. During the homily, Fr. Peter Williams reflected on the responsibility of leaders and all members of the community in living out Christ’s mission to make God's kingdom present in our world through acts of love, justice, and service.
As part of the liturgy, Year 12 student leaders from schools in the Diocese of Parramatta were formally commissioned alongside peers from parish youth groups across the diocese. This commissioning marked the beginning of their important leadership roles within their schools and parishes, emphasizing their commitment to serving others as Christ did.
THANKSGIVING MASS
The staff and students of the college, Year 7 to 11, will be attending a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Padre Pio Parish Church on Wednesday 4th of December at 11am. It is wonderful that we can gather together as a college community to celebrate a Mass in thanksgiving for the school year as we head into the Advent season. Any parents of family members who would like to attend are most welcome.
We thank Father Johnson for generously offering to celebrate Mass for our college
community and this opportunity to continue the faith formation for our staff and
Students.
