Advent

The focus for the Second Week of Advent is PEACE.

Take time to think of and pray for peace in our world, peace in our families and peace in our own hearts.

How can we be people of peace in the lead up to Christmas, as we prepare for the coming of Jesus?

The students have begun working on the Jesse Tree and learning about the people who waited for the birth of Jesus. We were delayed in setting up our whole school Jesse Tree due to some challenges in having it remain on the quadrangle window. A big THANK YOU to Amanda Tran, mother of Ethan in Yr 1/2G, for creating a tree stencil to attach to the window. You will see Jesse Tree symbols begin to appear around the tree in the remaining days of school.

Below is a link for a family prayer for the Second Week of Advent.

St Michael's Giving Tree

Thank you for the donations that are coming to school for our Giving Tree collection.

We are still accepting items up until the afternoon of Thursday 12 December, the date of the Christmas Carols.  The items can be left in the tubs/boxes outside the staffroom door.

The items donated by our school community will be presented to a representative from St Vincent de Paul's on the evening of our school carols. They are then distributed to the families in need within our wider parish community. This is an act of kindness and reflects the true meaning of giving at Christmas.

You are able to donate:

  • unwrapped toys for children aged 0-5 years
  • unwrapped toys for children aged 5-12 years
  • chocolates
  • wrapping paper
  • empty stockings.

Thank you for your generosity, it is greatly appreciated.

End of School Year Mass

You are warmly invited to join us for the End of School Year Mass on Friday 13 December at 10.00 am.

The amazing school choir will lead the singing. The school leaders and students from each year level will read the scripture readings and Prayers of the Faithful.

Pope Francis' Prayer Intentions for December

For pilgrims of hope

We pray that this Jubilee Year strengthens our faith, helping us to recognise the Risen Christ in our daily lives, and that it may transform us into pilgrims of Christian hope.

Amen

JUBILEE YEAR 2025: Pilgrims of Hope

Pope Francis, has decided that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee, something which happens every 25 years.

The theme is “Pilgrims of Hope”, and it will be a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and a climate crisis.

In Australia, the Jubilee Year 2025 began on Sunday 24 November 2024, the Feast of our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe, and will conclude on Sunday 23 November 2025, the Feast of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.

Events will take place over the next 12 months to celebrate the Jubilee Year 2025.

At school we are incorporating the theme of Pilgrims of Hope in our learning and teaching as well as our school expectations.
