Melbourne Walks Excursion
Last Tuesday we excitedly headed off on our adventure to the city to take part in a Melbourne Walk focusing on the Industrial Revolution and it's impact on Melbourne and it's trade.
First, we hopped on a bus and then a train to the city and met Meyer our guide at Federation Square where we began our tour. The first stop was the Yarra River where we looked at where the trades arrived in Melbourne via boat and how the buildings around Melbourne were constructed using bluestone. We learnt about John Batman and how he influenced the trades and development of Melbourne at the time.
We then headed down along the river towards Flinders Street where we passed many significant bridges and of course Flinder Street Station. After heading through the underpass, we arrived on Flinders Street. We ducked through laneways and then arrived at the Block And Royal Arcades. It was here that we learnt about Haigh's chocolate and how it was first made in the bathroom of a home in Melbourne. Thankfully now their chocolate is made in a factory!
Next, we headed into Bourke Street and the GPO and looked at the mail room which is now H&M. We all thought it was interesting to see how they still used the buildings today and the secret stairways up into the higher sections of the GPO.
From the GPO we headed into a laneway and saw some street art and were able to contribute to the street art by placing a mini-me on the art and taking a photo. This was a very interesting and fun activity.
After the tour, we then headed to Birrarung Marr for lunch and a play on the playground. After a long walk, it was nice to sit down and then explore the playground with our friends.

PBL Positive Affirmations
This week in PBL we have been focusing on changing Trash Talk into Treasure Talk.

Fun with Foundation
This week we got to work with the Foundation class playing maths games. The foundations had to teach the year 3/4 students how to play which was great for their instructional skills. This was a great opportunity for year 4 students for buddies in 2025.
