Returning Take Home Books

To help with the sorting, organising, and re-allocation of readers in the Junior units for 2025, we need students to bring their readers back to school and not take new ones home.

We are asking all Foundation, Grade One and Grade Two students to return their take home readers by Tuesday the 3rd of December. This aligns with the date for library books to be returned.

Graduate Outcome Awards

Last week we celebrated students who displayed the Graduate Outcome of HOPE. These students received a Graduate Outcome Award.

Students who graduate from St Therese’s Primary School are people of HOPE, who are self confident and believe in themselves.

For the next few weeks, staff will continue to be on the lookout for students who display the Graduate Outcome of INTEGRITY.

Indonesian - Grade 6 Nasi Tumpeng

Last week and this week the Grade 6 learned about the Indonesian Traditional Food called 'Nasi Tumpeng'. They worked in groups to create a model of 'Nasi Tumpeng' and shared the information about it. People in Indonesia have 'Nasi Tumpeng' for a special Celebration to show gratitude. The cone-shaped rice represents mountains or volcanoes, and the side dishes contain beef, chicken/eggs, vegetables, and fish. They represent the land animals, winged beasts, natures, and sea creatures.

Energy Breakthrough

A very big shout out and thank you to the Gr 5 & 6 students and parents who braved some very hot conditions to participate in Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough last week.

I think EBT was such a fun experience because we had 2 nights away with our friends in tents and got to have so much riding around the track especially me because we got icy poles after we rode. ~ Eden

EBT was such a fun experience. I was a bit nervous to get into the cart at first, but once I was in the cart for a while, it was really fun going really quick around corners. ~ Miller

I think EBT was one of the best experiences I have had. I was nervous at first but once I was in the cart I had so much fun. I also had the opportunity to hang out with my friends at camp. If I had the option, I would certainly do it again. We also got to learn about our cart. Being in the cart going quickly was really fun. ~ Jesse

EBT was a really fun experience because we had 2 nights away in Maryborough to race and present. The best part was racing in the carts. It was really exciting watching all the carts towards the end of the race and everyone was on the barriers watching and cheering on all the schools ~ Stella

I think EBT is a really fun experience. The camp and also the carts are really fun. I loved watching everyone in the carts and cheering them on. The presentation was an amazing experience talking to the judge. ~ Zali

I absolutely loved EBT. I liked camping, physical output and racing! I really enjoyed the training, and I think that there should have been more training sessions in my opinion. I think it will be a great experience for our younger generations. ~ Will

I thought that EBT was going to be easy and I would just ride around a track but no, it wasn’t what I expected, I had to work hard. It felt hard but it made me happy, sad, angry and really excited. I really liked going away on a camp, getting to see my friends and racing. ~ Nate

I loved my experience with EBT, and I know that it holds the promise that it will help with my growth with my EBT journey and make me better with my mental, physical and academic growth. I absolutely loved EBT! It was lots of fun, I thought it would be way easier, but no. EBT pushed me to my limit. I will definitely be returning in 2025. EBT was the best experience for bikes. I had so much fun with my friends and had such a great time riding. ~ Leni

It was soooo fun. It was probably one of the best experiences of my life. I loved pushing out of my comfort zone and beating my lap time by 20 seconds! But it was the best experience ever and it was even better with my friends. I can’t wait to do it again next year! ~ Elsie

EBT was amazing! When I heard Mum had signed me up for it, I was not excited at all, but it was probably my favorite thing I did all year! I will 100% do it again next year. My favorite part was my crash>:). I loved it! ~ Lola

EBT was so fun! I had second thoughts about doing EBT at first, but when I started, it was amazing. I'm so excited to do it next year I cannot wait. And luckily, I didn't crash because some people said it hurt, and some said it was fun. ~ Willow

I thought that EBT was the best experience in school, but I think that we need to start in Term One and cart 3 gets an update. I loved riding, camping and having my friends around me. ~ Darby

I thought EBT was the best thing St Threse's and I have ever done. I absolutely loved everything about it. I liked the camp, but I loved the racing the most. It was one of the best experiences of my life. ~ Reid

I thought EBT was a great thing to get your fitness up and it was verry fun. I loved camping and I loved the racing. I was glad I didn’t flip. It was a great experience to ride in the cart. I can’t wait for next year. GO ST’Ts! ~ Harry

Grade 4 Adventure Camp

Last Friday, our Grade 4 students enjoyed a day at Camp Kookaburra. Students completed a range of activities such as archery, trust climbing, zipline, low ropes and rock climbing. The staff were impressed with the resilience and positive attitude displayed by students throughout the day.

I really liked climbing because I got to try to climb up to different heights for the first time. I've climbed before... But not that high! ~ Winter

I liked to climb really high without looking and then when I get to the top, I got to see how high I was and thought, "Wow, I'm high!" ~ Xavier

I liked the archery because it was something new for me and it was a challenge shooting the arrow accurately to get it to land in the bullseye. ~ Lenny

SSV Region Cricket

On Friday 15th November, some of our Year 6 boys went to Swan Hill to participate in SSV Cricket Regionals. The boys had a pleasant drive up with friends and family and got settled quick.

The boys went into the first game against Echuca Primary school hopeful for what might come. They started strong with a few good shots down the ground and good running. Unfortunately, the boys had a few bad runouts and left on less runs than we hoped. Into the bowling innings we had some great and some rough patches of bowling and ended with a loss by 6 runs.

Disappointed but hopeful, the boys went into the second game against Sacred Heart of Mildura hoping for a solid win to get up the ladder. The boys fought well but ended up losing to Sacred Heart by what felt like only a few runs, but ended up being a loss by 70.

By this point, the boys had known their dreams of states were over.

They decided to have some fun in our last game against Koondrook South primary.

Even though the Boys did not win a game they had a great time and enjoyed the experience. It made it a bit of a sad drive home with losing every game, but the boys learnt a lot from it and will keep on improving.

On the 15th of November, 10 of the year six boys and Mr McInnes went to Swan Hill to play SSV Regional Cricket. All the boys had a blast but unfortunately, we lost all 3 games.

Huge thanks to Mrs. Woods for organising SSV Cricket for our year sixes this year. Another thank you to Mr McInnes for coming up to Swan Hill and coaching us.

Team VIC Cricket

We wish Cale P (Senior 6 Cole) all the very best as he heads to SA to represent Team VIC in the National Cricket Championships.

Cale underwent a lengthy selection process to earn his place on the State team. He has been traveling to Melbourne regularly to train with the team and is now looking forward to the experience of competing against other budding cricketers around the country.

We are all very proud of Cale and his achievements thus far and can't wait to cheer him and his Team VIC teammates on next week. Good luck boys!

Water Safety Sessions

Over the past three weeks, all of our students have enjoyed participating in Water Safety Sessions at Gurri Wanyarra and Paul Sadler Swimland. As we head into the warmer months of the year, these lessons will hopefully give students the knowledge and skills to be safe water users.
