Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers

BASKETBALL/NETBALL COURTS

We are delighted with the student response to our new basketball and netball courts which were delivered to us this week. A drawn out process which involved seeking and gaining Department approval, successful funding requests to local philanthropic trusts, geotechnical studies of the site, engineering reports and designs and then the process of tendering, took well over twelve months to even consider commencing works.

The successful contractor Mugavin Constructions came on board in June and finally we have our finished product.

The students are enjoying using these courts during their recess and lunch breaks and staff are also using them in their lessons. I know they are being well utilised in our PE classes as well.

We plan on holding an opening ceremony celebration in the last week of school where we are able to officially thank our sponsors, sub-committee members and supporters in a fun filled activity- staff/parent v students basketball/netball matches. We will provide more details as soon as we are able.

A special thankyou goes to Clinton Brown for his dedication and hard work on this project.

KOORIE CELEBRATION DAY

Today our Koorie students went to Hawkesdale P-12 for the annual Koorie Celebration Day. Students got to participate in five fun activities including cooking and painting. They were able to mix with students from many local primary schools as well as senior students from Warrnambool College and a BBQ lunch was provided. Graduating Year 6 students received a graduation trophy from Koorie Engagement Support Officer, Stephen Young.

GOVEMBER UDPATE

Again we have had a strong week in adding to our kilometres towards our target of 14,000km.

We are well on track. Good luck to everyone as we enter the last week of November. We will get there with km to spare if we continue our current course.

TENNIS AUSTRALIA VISIT

Today we had the pleasure of having Paul and Callum from Tennis Australia. Not only did they hold tennis clinics for our PE classes today they bought along the 2025 Australian Open Trophies.

Our school is one of only three in the State to have had the trophies at. Select students and staff got to hold the trophies with gloved hands as they are not to be touched until presented to the winner. All students across the school were given an opportunity to view the trophies and to hear about how much they're worth.

The trophies are being flown to China on Monday as part of a special tour before the tournament in January 2025.

A big thank you to Tennis Australia and Mrs Cherine Owen for organising such an amazing visit.
