As we approach the end of the year, it's hard to believe how quickly the time has flown. Over the past few weeks, all of our classes have been working diligently to prepare for our upcoming Christmas Concert on the 11th of December. This event promises to be a celebration of the hard work, creativity, and growth our students have demonstrated throughout the year.
In addition to learning and rehearsing for the concert, we've taken some time to reflect on everything we’ve accomplished together. It’s been a year full of exciting musical, dramatic, and dance-based experiences, and our students should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved. Whether it was mastering a new skill, overcoming a challenge, or showing perseverance through practice, each student has grown in their own unique way. The concert will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase their progress and share in the joy of their achievements.
Thank you to all the parents for your support throughout the year – it truly makes a difference in helping the students thrive. I look forward to seeing you all at the Christmas Concert, and I’m confident it will be a performance to remember!
Over the past few weeks in PE, our students have been actively developing their skills, building teamwork, and exploring new games and activities. Here's a snapshot of what each year level has been up to:
Prep - Year 2
Our youngest learners have been hard at work refining their throwing and catching techniques. These skills are the foundation of many sports and have set the stage for our Cricket unit, where students are applying their new abilities for fun and engaging activities.
Year 3/4
After wrapping up an exciting Volleyball unit, where they focused on teamwork, serving, and game play, the Year 3/4 students are now turning their attention to Cricket. They’re honing their batting, bowling, and fielding skills, while learning more about the rules and strategies of the game.
Year 5/6
Our senior students have also completed their Volleyball unit and are now taking on an exciting challenge: creating their own games! In small groups, they are designing unique activities, considering rules, strategies, and inclusivity. Soon, they’ll teach these games to their classmates, building their leadership and teamwork skills along the way.
Across all levels, it’s fantastic to see students embracing the joy of movement, skill development, and the spirit of collaboration. We’re looking forward to seeing their confidence and abilities continue to grow!
Our STEM program has been buzzing with creativity, curiosity, and hands-on exploration this term! Students across all year levels have been tackling exciting challenges that combine science, technology, engineering, and design. Here’s a look at what they’ve been working on:
Prep - Year 2: Exploring Light, Shadows, and Sound
Our youngest STEM learners have been diving into the fascinating world of light and sound. They’ve experimented with shadows and discovered how light interacts with objects. The highlight of their learning has been creating their own musical instruments that produce sound—combining creativity with practical design.
Year 3/4: Simple Machines in Action
Building on their exploration of forces, students in Year 3/4 have been designing and constructing their own Simple Machines. From levers to pulleys, they’ve applied their knowledge to create functional models and bring their ideas to life through 3D modeling.
Year 5/6: 3D Modeling and Printing
Our senior students have been showcasing their design and tech skills by creating custom phone holders using 3D modeling software. After perfecting their designs, they’ve taken their creations to the next level by 3D printing them, turning virtual concepts into tangible reality.
It’s been incredible to see the students' innovation, problem-solving, and collaboration shine through in their projects. We’re excited to continue exploring new challenges and opportunities in STEM!
Our Mateship Program continues to thrive, with students enthusiastically embracing our recent lesson on 'Gratitude.' Together, we explored what gratitude means and how it shapes our relationships and mindset. As a highlight, the whole school collaborated to create a vibrant Gratitude Tree in the art room, adorned with heartfelt messages of appreciation. It’s been wonderful to see the students’ reflections and contributions blossom into a beautiful symbol of thankfulness and connection.
As we continue building our beautiful Christmas wonderland, students are fully embracing the festive spirit, adding the final touches to their decorations. Amid the creativity, they’ve also been reflecting on their artistic journey throughout 2024, celebrating their growth and accomplishments. With excitement in the air, they are already looking ahead to 2025, eager to explore new projects and further develop their skills. It’s a joyful and reflective end to a wonderful year in the art room!
