From the Principal's desk
I would like to welcome all of our families back for Term 2. It is a long term of 11 weeks, however there are a lot of things happening across the school.
Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences Term 1 Progress and Term 2 Goal Setting
On Tuesday the 30th of April we will be running Parent/Students/Teacher conferences. Parents will have the opportunity to book a 15-minute interview with their classroom teacher between 8:45am and 6pm (with the last booking at 5:45pm). Students will not be required to attend school that day, however, will be asked to attend the interview. During this time parents or carers will be able to discuss their child's progress in Term 1 and new goals for Term 2. Bookings will open on Monday the 22nd of April. If you are unable to find care for your child on this day, please contact the school to discuss options.
ANZAC Day services
Our school will have student representatives at both the Dawn and Morning Service. Our Captains will be reading the poem 'In Flander's Fields' at the dawn service and the choir will be singing at the 10:15am. We will be running a service at school on Friday the 26th of April at 10:30am, all families are welcome to attend.
Canberra Camp
Thank you to all year 5 and 6 Families who returned an expression of interest and deposit for the Canberra Camp in Term 4. Families can make additional payments towards the camp throughout term 2 and 3 if they wish. 'Centrepay' can also be organised to help with progressive payments towards camp.
Senior Winter Sports
The winter sports competition for our senior students begins next Friday the 26th of April. Our school will have teams in netball, football and softball. I would like to wish our students good luck for the term and know they will represent Numurkah PS well.
Uniform
It was fantastic to see the faces of our Year 6 students yesterday as they received their printed items of uniform.
I would like to highlight some of the sections of our Student Uniform Policy to remind families of our uniform requirements. Some of the items being worn by students are not part of our uniform at Numurkah PS. Please have a talk with your child/children to ensure they are in full school uniform. As the colder weather starts please ensure jackets are labelled. Hoodies are not permitted at school.
General uniform
Plain black shorts or skorts without decoration or brand name and in Winter can be worn with black tights/stockings. Shorts should be of an appropriate length. As the weather becomes colder students may wear a long sleeve top underneath their polo shirt, however, this needs to be in school colours.
Jewellery and cosmetics
Students are not permitted to wear decorative jewellery to school. Stud earrings and sleepers worn in the ears, and watches, are the only acceptable jewellery.
Footwear
Appropriate footwear is to be worn. Summer sandals with covered toes, black school shoes or pull on black school boots or black runners are permitted. No thongs or open-toed sandals are permitted.
