Term 1 was a very busy term for both the students and staff of St John’s Regional College.
During the term activities such as the House Aquatics Carnival, Year 7 Camp, SIS sport, Year 12 Retreat, and SIS Performing Arts were held. The students at St John’s had many opportunities to get involved in a variety of activities.
The Phoenix students showed their amazing House Spirit by winning the House Spirit competition at the Aquatics carnival.
This was a fabulous effort from all Phoenix students and teachers. Well Done!

Hello everyone!!
What a fantastic start to the year it has been! Term one was a busy term. It was wonderful to see everyone participating at the Aquatics Carnival and embracing their Houses by proudly displaying their House colours. Harmony Day at St John’s was a celebration of all the different nationalities of the students and showed how we are able to be one community. Many of the students took part in a parade. They were walking like models in the fashion show while dressed in their exquisite traditional attire. There were amazing dances, such the Indian Tamil dance and the Samoan dances. Our school's variety of nationalities exposes us to a wider range of cultures and religions, which helps us become empathetic people.
We have just had the House Athletics carnival. The students had an amazing day representing their Houses in several events. Well done to everyone who took part in the events, and congratulations to the Columba team who placed first in 2024. Congratulations to Aquila, who took first place in the House Spirit competition. Credit to Phoenix, who came in second and lifted the spirits of all those who attended the day.
I also want to use this as an occasion to remind everyone of the forthcoming Founders Day, when you can participate in various fun games and activities and watch people pursue their passions in the Talent Quest. I’m looking forward to watching you all perform, dance, sing, play games and celebrate the Founders of St John’s!

Hello, I am Celecita Da Silva, a Year 7 girl in Phoenix House. I was able to represent Phoenix in the recent Athletics carnival. The day was filled with so much spirit and excitement as students from all year levels and all Houses came together to showcase their athletic abilities. The atmosphere in the stands was electric with all the cheers and encouragement for other students echoing throughout the stands.
As I reflect on my point of view of the Athletics carnival, I am filled with a deep sense of pride and satisfaction. Representing Phoenix House with determination, led me to winning the 800m race. It was an exhausting race not just for me but for my two friends from different Houses who ran alongside me. But my events didn't end there. I went on to win the 400m race with a burst of incredible speed at the end, and as if that wasn't enough, I also won the 200m and 100m heats. Hearing my friend’s cheer me on gave me the motivation to do my best and, luckily, win.
I realised that the point of the Athletics carnival is not just to win, but to connect with other students and have fun doing something that brings us all together. The day was a truly memorable one.
