Meet the Captains
Sian Fraser - Arts Captain Clyde North Campus
College Arts Captain - Clyde North Campus
What do you see as your role as a leader?
The role as a leader for me is to be a supportive role model for the younger students. I aim to be someone who others feel comfortable talking to or even just listening to. I aspire to encourage and uplift people to reach their full potential.
What is one of the positives about being a student at St. Peter's College?
One of the positives of being a student at St Peter’s College is it being a welcoming and supportive community, there will always be a group of people that can make you feel like you belong. The close community allows for each student to grow with who they are and find themselves while knowing that there will be people around them to support and encourage them.
What are your goals as Captain in 2024?
My goals within the Arts in 2024 is to create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to express, create, and enjoy the arts. My goal is to provide opportunities for the younger students and give them the freedom to dream and pursue their own interests.
2024 College Theme
“Do justice, love kindness and walk humbly (Mic 6:8)
How will you live this statement through your leadership role?’
With this statement in practice I will “Do justice” in helping and supporting my peers through their time with in the college, “Love Kindness” through supporting and encouraging the artists, musicians and writers within our community through all of their practices and experiences, “and Walk Humbly” through my position as a Captain showing humbleness and understanding with everything that I do.
From the Archives
In 1995, one year after St. Peter’s College was officially opened, the College initiated the Japanese Exchange Program. In 1997 the first group of students visited Onomichi High School, Hiroshima, Japan. A moving experience was visiting the site of the dropping of the Atomic Bomb.
This relationship continued until Onomichi High School felt that it had become unviable.
Not wanting to lose the contact with Japan, another relationship was developed with Sapporo Seishu High School. Sapporo is the largest city on the island of Hokkaido, the northern most of Japan’s main islands.
In 2010, a group led by Ms. Karyn McMenamin and Mr. James Roberts travelled to Japan over the September holidays and the following week, the students participated in a two-week home stay and travelled to Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima.
Two Sapporo students also spent a number of weeks as students at St. Peter’s College.

SIS Public Speaking
Last Thursday, twelve students represented St. Peter’s College at the SIS Public Speaking competition held at Flinders Christian Community College in Tyabb. The competition requires students to prepare a persuasive speech to an assigned topic, and to compose a speech to an unseen prompt with only five minutes planning time.
All students eagerly participated in the events of the day and delivered their individual speeches with enthusiasm. For members of the Junior team this was their first time participating in an SIS event and they were supported by their peers in the Intermediate and Senior teams.
Many students commented that the competition provided them with a chance to build their confidence presenting in front of an audience and supported the development of their literacy skills. Angela Drakopoulous, an Intermediate team member from the Clyde North campus, captures this when she reports that, “This competition was a fun chance to enhance our speaking and social skills. We had the opportunity to meet new people and express our creativity. We learned critical thinking skills in our unprepared speech and built confidence in the prepared one. It was a fun day between schools.”
Overall, each student performed well on the day, with eight students receiving a high score, and Senior team member, Vasu Kashal from the Cranbourne campus, taking out the highest score for a student in the Senior division across all participating colleges.
Students from left to right: Antonio Alonday (Yr 10), Andy Murray (Yr 8), Samar Perozi (Yr 8), Minh Tran (Yr 10), Ria Kaur Gerwal (Yr 8), Vasu Kashal (Yr 12), Matthew Sinclair (Yr 12), Angela Drakopoulous (yr 10), Sheetal Devi Kumar (Yr 10), Rianna Imperial (Yr 10), and Reyon Maben (Yr 7).
Mr Brilliant, Miss Cachart, Mrs Hemming and Mrs Kollarics congratulate all students for their efforts on the day and encourage other students to get involved in SIS Debating and SIS Book in a Day.
Anzac Day Ceremony
On Monday 22 April, our Year 11 Vocational Major (VM) class organised and ran an Anzac Day service for our College. They created wreaths, prepared food and also arranged crosses to commemorate those who served our country. These crosses also carried the names of family members of those in our St Peter's community. Stuart Couch from the RSL spoke of his experience during the service and Jamie Rolfe from the Cranbourne Lions Concert Band performed The Last Post. We also had special guests from the Botanic Gardens Retirement Home join us for the service. All special guests were invited by our VM class to share lunch prepared by them and to share their experiences with our students. Thank you to everyone who helped make this service another significant one to remember and to honour those who served our country.
