Last week, Year 9 students attended an information session on the upcoming Work Experience Industry Taster Project. The project is a partnership between the Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN (Local Learning and Education Network) and St Brigid’s College, which has gained the support of several local industries, businesses, and organisations. St Brigid's College Year 9 students are the only students in the state who are participating in this pilot program. Vanessa O’Loughlin (Executive Officer) from WSM LLEN presented the students with further information about the program, including expectations. The session and the pilot program is a great opportunity for our students.
Recently we came together with SMJ Horsham to celebrate Catholic Education Week and the 150th anniversary of Catholic Education in the Ballarat Diocese. Both schools gathered in the St Brigid's Stadium to celebrate a liturgy, followed by a sausage sizzle. It was lovely to see primary and secondary students enjoy each others company in the sunshine.
Last Friday, students and staff came together wearing shades of blue for Dolly's Dream 'Do It For Dolly Day'. The day is about bringing the community together, spreading kindness and united in taking a stand against bullying. Inspired by Dolly Everett's enduring legacy, this day empowers students to stand up, speak out, and champion kindness in their community and beyond.
Outstanding contributors to Catholic education in the Diocese of Ballarat were recognised with Spirit of Catholic Education Awards at a Catholic Education Week Mass and dinner in Ballarat on Friday 3rd May.
Our wonderful Front Office team were nominated for Enhancing Family Engagement, Governance and Stewardship. The team travelled to Ballarat to attend the mass and dinner held at Damascus College. Congratulations to all nominees and recipients of awards.
Well done to our team, Louise Nield, Tony Nield, Brianna Beddison, Malory Ryan, Cheryl Crocker and Sharon Fedke (absent) for your ongoing engagement and support of our College families and community.
Just like that, there's only one more week of Bright Sparks to go! Here are some photos from Week 3 of the program which included baking golden apple pies in Food Glorious Food, Pet Portraits students beginning their lino prints and iRobots students preparing their robot for the final race in Week 4. The Active Adventure, Wizards of Wood and Coding Art workshops were also full of plenty of action and smiles!
A big thank you to some of our Year 7 and 8 students who have been assisting the primary students across the workshops.
Congratulations to St Brigid's College students Isaac Arnold, Bailey Eder and Olek Trebicki for their involvement both on and off stage in the HAC - Horsham Arts Council's recent production of Shrek the Musical.
Isaac and Bailey have put in an extraordinary amount of dedication, countless hours and passion into their love of performing arts, and absolutely shone in their roles. Isaac starred as the Big Bad Wolf, the Pied Piper and a Knight. Bailey played an integral part in the Backstage Crew, who seamlessly moved set pieces on and off the stage and organised props so the performers could deliver their very best performances each show. Olek supported Front of House for the Horsham Town Hall as an usher for many shows, helping guests to find their seats, always with a smile on his face.
Thank you to parent, Erika Eder, for sending through the photos!
