In Art last term, the Year 3/4s were learning about Pop Art - imagery from popular culture. Their brief was; ‘Select a popular snack food or drink item well known in Australia to represent in Pop Art style’. We used the artists Roy Lichtenstein and Burton Morris as our inspiration.
We focused on including 4 of the art principles in our work:
- Pattern - repeated shapes, lines and/or colours
- Contrast - colours from opposing segments on the colour wheel
- Balance - design elements are arranged symmetrically to create equality
- Variety - using different art elements to create visual interest
Our pieces were created utilising a range of materials including; cardboard, paint, coloured card, posca pens, sharpies, fine liners and stencils. Have a look at what we created!
