In Digital Technologies Years 5 and 6 are using Lego Mindstorm kits to build robots that will be coded to perform different functions. The one below is called ‘Puppy’ and once completed, students will use block coding to pet it, feed it and experience its reactions.

In Years 3 and 4 students have been attempting to make an electrical circuit using limes, lemons and potatoes. We haven’t seen a light bulb light up yet, but are still working on it.

Students have also spent time with Makey Makey, a STEM kit where students have been making a keyboard out of all sorts of things (playdough, lemons, leaves, even themselves).  Some libraries have STEM kits available to borrow, please ask your local library what they have, there has been lots of enthusiasm in digital technologies!
