FIRST NATIONS INCLUSION AT BHNPSK

Hi everyone,

My name is Dylan Trenwith, and I am the Marrung Lead here at BHNPS&K. It has been a great start to the year and we are really proud of the work that the staff and students have done towards embedding First Nations peoples’ perspectives in to the classroom and their daily practice. While we are at the beginning of our journey, BHNPS&K would like to acknowledge that together we are working towards making the school a more inclusive space for all students, staff, and community.

The first professional learning for all Eastern Marrung Leads took place on Monday with the aim of helping schools to connect students and families with external organisations. These groups seek to support and empower First Nations students and families by connecting them with other First Nations people and their culture. Below is a list of some of the organisations and the services they provide including youth groups, men’s and women’s groups, and health services/support.

We are always looking for any of the BHNPS&K First Nations community to help us in the classroom and around the school to help educate staff, students and the community about First Nations culture. Any help in this space would be greatly appreciated and please don’t hesitate to contact myself, David or any of the teachers.

Dylan
