A Recap of Our Fun-Filled Week!

Greetings, parents! We hope this message finds you well and eagerly awaiting the latest updates from our vibrant classroom. Here's a peek into the delightful adventures we've shared this week:

Diving into Literacy Wonderland:

This week, we embarked on an enchanting journey into the realm of literacy, exploring Stage 2 sounds with boundless enthusiasm! Say hello to our newest pals from the Little Learners Love Literacy Program: Queenie the quail, our guide to the /qu/ sound, and Zoe the zebra, who introduces us to the wonders of /z/. Our literacy sessions have been brimming with spelling exercises and sentence crafting, as we delve deeper into the magic of language. The highlight? A whimsical wedding ceremony uniting q and u, a playful reminder that these two are inseparable!

Numerical Adventures Abound:

Counting has never been more exhilarating! Our students have been mastering various counting strategies through a plethora of engaging numeracy activities. From basic counting to tackling more complex concepts, our little mathematicians are embracing the world of numbers with gusto. This week, we delved into subitising, sharpening our superhero-like ability to instantly recognize quantities and reasoning through our counting methods. For instance, when presented with a set of objects, students explained how they perceived the number 4—some spotted 3 and 1, while others recognized 1 and 1 and 1 and 1, totalling 4. We also enjoyed practicing subitising with our peers, enhancing our numerical fluency in collaborative settings.

Insights into Homework:

We trust your child has been relishing our homework activities and devouring the decodable books with gusto. This week, students brought home their reading journals—a tool designed to track and celebrate your child's reading journey. Should you have any queries regarding this, please don't hesitate to reach out. A friendly reminder: decodable books are swapped on Mondays and Thursdays, so let's encourage our little ones to establish a routine, fostering independence and responsibility.

Friendly Reminders:

As we step into May, while hats are no longer mandatory, we strongly recommend their use to safeguard against the sun's rays.

And a few housekeeping notes:

Please remember that attendance rolls are marked promptly at 9 am. If your child arrives after this time, kindly sign them in at the office.

Should your child have an appointment or be feeling under the weather, please notify us through Compass. Your assistance in ensuring regular attendance is immensely valued.

We're eagerly anticipating another extraordinary week ahead, brimming with laughter, learning, and endless possibilities!
