This Friday 17th of May
This Friday 15 of our students will compete at the the Armidale Diocesan Cross Country carnival in Barraba. Thank you to those parents who have offered to take extra students if required. I will be in contact today if your amazing carpooling services are needed! Myself and Mrs Cortis will accompany students to the carnival. Please arrive at the Barraba Rugby Grounds no later than 9:30am. All students will walk the course from 10am, parents are also welcome to walk the course with us.
What to wear:
Students will receive their diocesan shirts today. Normal school uniform is to be worn with their diocesan representative shirt (girls can wear bike shorts/running shorts whilst competing if this is more comfortable for them). Spikes are not allowed for cross country events. Waffles or normal joggers are appropriate.
What to bring: Sunscreen will be provided by the school.
Below is the timetable for the day and the canteen menu provided by the lovely PT&F of St Joseph's Primary School, Barraba
We have some very exciting sporting opportunities taking place in Term 2. Students will start the term with athletics skills training focusing on sprinting, shot put, discus and high jump (for primary students only). Sessions from weeks 1-6 will be school based on Wednesdays. In weeks 7 & 8 students will travel over to our local athletics fields, Golland Fields, for the opportunity to practice running using the track lines and long jump.
These sessions, which have been gained through the Sporting Schools Grant Funding, will be held here at school on Fridays from the 31st of May through until the 28th of June.
Students will wear their sports uniforms on both Wednesdays and Fridays through this time frame.
Session times are as follows:
Group 1: 12:15pm – 1:15pm (Years 5/6)
LUNCH BREAK
Group 2: 1:50pm – 2:30pm (Years K-2)
Group 3: 2:30pm – 3:15pm (Years 3-4)
Our annual school athletics carnival will be held on Thursday the 27th of June (week 9) at Golland fields. We will be looking for parent helpers to assist in the running of the carnival so please mark this date in your calendar.
