Year 7 Captains' Report
Year 7 Camp - 1 & 2
Hello students, teachers, parents and carers, this is your Year 7 Captains; Charlie Glenn, Elsie Dohle, Jack Bismark and Elinor Sinco to tell you about our Year 7 Camp.
In Week 1 this term, the Year 7s had school camp. Everyone had a blast! Well done to everyone for stepping out of their comfort zones, trying new things, making new friends and getting to know our teachers better. We enjoyed camp very much and all the activities the camp had, that we will talk more about in the paragraphs below.
One of the main activities that everyone loved was the Amazing Race which was on the first night of camp. We all competed in our activity groups to accomplish puzzles, riddles and more. We also had a movie on our final night which all the students enjoyed.
We did many activities such as a giant swing, the crate climb, moving rock wall, zipline, mindfulness and even going to Churchill Island to see the animals (my personal favourite was George the Cockatoo!) and we even got to go to the beach, even though the water was freezing cold. This camp was a great opportunity for students to make a heap of new friends and experience new things. The giant swing and crate climb were very challenging but definitely worth it. There were a lot more than the activities too. There were trampolines, a cricket pitch, lots of sports equipment and a stadium for all the students to enjoy whenever!
At camp one of the things, we all loved was the food that we would have for breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner, and tea. I really enjoyed the make your own burrito night, and I could tell my friends did too. I could tell people really enjoyed having nice food on camp (except for the juice after we just brushed our teeth). I for one haven't had such good food on a camp before but now I have, and it’s all thanks to the staff at “CYC THE ISLAND”, really this couldn’t have been done without them, thank you all so much.
Overall, “CYC THE ISLAND” was a great camp and I definitely enjoyed it. I would 100% recommend this to future Year 7’s and campers looking to embark on adventures that involve teamwork, stepping out of your comfort zone, and lots of fun! So many of the activities were exhilarating, but took a lot of courage and for that, each and every student who participated should be proud of themselves. A 5-star rating for THE ISLAND!
