Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
School Wide Improvement Forum
Members of our leadership team gathered today for Southern Region's School Wide Improvement Forum with over 240 leaders from around our region in attendance. This is an invaluable opportunity to work together as a team, learn from experts and plan actions for our return to school. Once again, the focus of today's learning was on explicit instruction, with time spent exploring Principles of Instruction, ten research-based strategies that all teachers should be using within their classrooms. Over the coming weeks we will use our Professional Learning Team (PLT) meetings to share our learnings with the rest of the staff.
Road Safety
I ask people again to be cautious on Wallen St, especially at dismissal time. We had a near miss recently with a toddler running out onto the road in front of a car. Thankfully, the traffic was moving slowly at the time and the driver was able to stop in time. Please ensure that your preschoolers remain close to you as you exit the school.
Interschool Sport and Bike Ed
Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 Students who began interschool sports last week. All matches were played in great spirits and excellent sportsmanship from our students. The competition continues tomorrow with matches against Galilee and St Joan of Arc. Over 80 students competed in our Dendy District cross-country this week, with more details and results on Mrs Thompson's Sports page.
We're also two weeks into our Year 4 bike ed sessions. Some students' skills have already improved dramatically, and all students have benefitted from lessons on how to ride safely.
Colour Run Photos
Please see some photos taken by Paul Zarogiannis (Year 1 dad) of our recent Colour Run. There are some great action shots in this set. Looking through these photos brought back memories of what a great day our Colour Run was.
Upcoming Mother's Day Events
Mother's Day is fast approaching with a few events to be aware of. Please see the P & F page for full details of our Mother's Day stall and breakfast.
Thursday 9th May - Mother's Day Stall
Friday 10th May - Mother's Day Breakfast and Lunch
Sunday 12th May - Mother's Day
School Winter Uniforms
From this week, all students must be in full winter uniform. The weather is turning cooler and it is time for us to dress accordingly. There seem to be a few ties missing already, especially among the boys. As always, please ensure that each item (including ties) are named so that we can get them back to the rightful owners. School beanies and scarves may be worn before school, during lunch and snack time and after school.
Michelle Hill,
Principal
