Student Representative Council

Hello Karoo Community,

We have some exciting news to share with you all!

On Friday 24th May, we will be having our first 'Free Dress Day', as voted by our wonderful Year 3-6 SRC Reps. During our meetings, we brainstormed a lot of ideas about which charities we would like to acknowledge and raise money for, as well as deciding on the theme of the free dress day.

The theme of our Term 2 Free Dress Day is 'Outside of School - Hobby Day' to support our World Vision Sponsor Child 'Jean Pierre Ikorineza'. We would like the Karoo Community to come to school in their favourite out of school hobby! This includes wearing your local sporting clubs uniform, scouts, gymnastics, karate, anything related to your favourite hobby! What happens if you don't have a favourite hobby? That's not a problem! You can come to school in your favourite colour!

Your gold coin donation will go towards our sponsor child Jean, in support of World Vision. Let's find out more about Jean, and how our contribution will assist Jean to help live a better life.

My name is Jean Pierre Ikorineza and I'm a 9-year-old boy. I live in Burundi with my parents. I speak Kirundi.

Burundi

Burundi is a landlocked country in east Africa. Its capital city is Bujumbura. Christianity and Islam are the main religions. In rural areas, most families build their houses with mud and sticks. In urban areas, people build with wood and cement blocks if they can afford it.

Our SRC Reps have been working very hard to create our posters, which will be displayed around the school! Here is a sneak peak of what they look like.

Looking forward to the 24th May!
