YEAR 9 2024

This year has been an exciting one for our Year 9 students, filled with memorable events and activities that have enriched their school experience. Our Year 9 students have taken significant steps towards planning their futures by completing their Morrisby Profiles and Career Action Plans.

Here are some of the highlights:

MCG and Ice Skating Adventure

Our trip to the iconic MCG and the ice skating session on the same day was a fantastic blend of sports history and winter fun. We started the day with a tour of the MCG, exploring the National Sports Museum and walking on the hallowed turf. In the afternoon, we headed to the ice rink, where many students experienced ice skating for the first time. There were plenty of laughs, a few tumbles, and by the end of the day, everyone had improved their skating skills and enjoyed a fun-filled day.

Luna Park Excursion

Our visit to Luna Park was a day of thrills and excitement. Students enjoyed the rides, from the classic carousel to the adrenaline-pumping roller coasters. It was a day of fun and bonding, with plenty of photo opportunities and unforgettable moments.

Live4Life Program

As part of our commitment to mental health and well-being, Year 9 participated in the Live4Life program. This initiative provided valuable education on mental health, resilience, and support strategies. Five of our students took the lead in organizing a "Check In Reach Out" day for the Year 8s, filled with various activities to promote connection and support. The event was a great success and was celebrated with a day of Go Karting, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Morrisby Profiles

The Morrisby Profile is a comprehensive career guidance tool that helps students understand their strengths, interests, and potential career paths. Through a series of assessments, our Year 9 students gained valuable insights into their aptitudes and preferences. This process not only highlighted their individual talents but also provided a clearer picture of the types of careers that might suit them best.

Career Action Plan

Building on the insights from their Morrisby Profiles, students then developed their Career Action Plans. This involved setting short-term and long-term goals, identifying the steps needed to achieve these goals, and exploring the educational and career pathways available to them. The Career Action Plan is a dynamic document that students will continue to update as they progress through their schooling and beyond.

These events and activities have not only been enjoyable but have also provided valuable learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth. Equipped with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their education and career paths, we are proud of their efforts and look forward to more adventures, achievements, and seeing them reach their goals in the coming year.
