YEAR 7

YEAR 7 2024

I am delighted to share an overview of the Year 7’s first year at Korumburra Secondary College. This cohort of students have shown themselves to be a passionate and energetic group of learners, quickly adapting to their new environment. One of the early highlights was our school camp to Grantville Lodge in February. This camp provided an excellent opportunity for students to bond with their peers and mentors through various adventure activities such as canoeing, hut building, giant swing and completing a high ropes course. It was wonderful to see the students supporting each other and building strong relationships that have continued and grown throughout the year. They also responded positively to being woken up by Mr. Cronin’s vigorous and enthusiastic morning serenades. To our surprise, they even joined in with some 80’s era classics, this will hold them in good stead for future Middle School camps!

Our Year 7 students have engaged in a wide range of educational activities. They have created plaster animals in Art, baked delicious muffins in Food Tech, explored animal classification in Science, and planned their futures in ACE. Additionally, they have delved into Japanese culture in LOTE and honed their writing skills by crafting a range of creations in English. Students also participated in their first KSC House competition through participation in the school swimming and athletics days. Students also participated in a plethora of activities such as interschool sports and excursions to a variety of locations. Overall, it has been a busy and productive year, and all students should be proud of their achievements. I would like to extend my thanks to all the Year 7 students, their parents, guardians, and teachers for their dedication and hard work. Special thanks go to our Year 7 mentors: Ms. Lane, Ms. Kordus and Ms. Sorrell for their tireless efforts and support throughout the year.
