MATHS
This year has been an exciting one for mathematics at our school. During our lessons, groups of students often moved outside the classroom. Year 7 and 8 students were seen measuring the area, perimeter, and volume of objects around the school. During statistics lessons at year 10, students designed their own investigations, collected data, and created graphs to show their results. Trigonometry classes were also out and about, using real-world examples to measure the heights of buildings around the school.
A big focus this year was the introduction of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 for Year 7. The updated curriculum has helped students build important skills and apply them to real-life problems. We also introduced Number Talks and Learning Partners at the start of every lesson to build every students confidence. Number Talks gave students the chance to discuss different ways to solve problems, while learning partners encouraged students to support and learn from each other. In 2025, all year levels will begin the transition to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
As the year comes to an end, I would like to thank the amazing maths teachers for their hard work and care for our students. Their efforts have created a positive and supportive learning environment.
