National Indigenous Summer School

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 10 and 11 are invited to the National Indigenous Summer School, co-hosted by the Tjabal Centre and Australian National University in Canberra, ACT.

 

The National Indigenous Summer School offers hands-on learning experiences that can inform education and career aspirations. Participants will engage in a range of discipline fields, with a focus on the theme of "The First Academics: The First Scientists, Philosophers, and People". The program will be facilitated by expert academic staff, Indigenous university students, and staff, who will guide students through a fun-filled program in the nation’s capital, offering valuable experiences both on and off campus. To be eligible for one of the 30 spots in the Summer School, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a current Year 10 or 11 student (Year 12 students will also be considered)
  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Have an interest in Science and Humanities subjects.

The deadline for applications is 5 pm AEST, Thursday, 31st May 2024 and the camp will be from 30th November to the 7th December. We advise prompt completion of the application process as the Summer School is fully funded by the Tjabal Centre and the ANU, including flights and transport to and from ANU Canberra, marking it as a competitive opportunity.
